Abstract
914,968. Lubricating. KING Ltd., GEORGE W. March 2, 1961 [March 11, 1960], No. 8662/60. Class 12 (3). A lubrication system suitable for endless chain-type conveyers comprises a lubricator 14 connected by pipes 22 and 23 to nozzles 24 and 25 respectively, which are mounted on pivoted arms 26 and 27 disposed one on either side of the conveyer track 13. By movement along the track, the trolley 12 makes contact with the arms 26 and 27 which are caused to move through a horizontal arc which permits the nozzles to register, make pressure of springs 30 and 31, in the oil hole of the trolley wheel spindle. Lubricant is supplied by means of air pressure as the nozzles reach the mid-arc position when the striker collar 32 contacts a microswitch 21 which operates solenoid valves 16 and 17 controlling the air supply to the lubricator 14. Having passed the operating position the arms and nozzles are returned to their original positions by the return springs 33 and 34. A further embodiment comprises a pneumatic means of moving the nozzle units transversely to the conveyer track for use with short pitched trolley units. Alternative airoperated valves may be used in place of the electrically-operated described.
