Abstract

899,426. Refrigerators. UNILEVER Ltd. June 26, 1959 [April 25, 1958], No. 13272/58. Class 29 In a refrigerated cabinet having a storage compartment 1 with a top closure 2, a display compartment 3 cooled by an evaporator 8 is disposed as shown with a horizontal top opening 9 closed by a transparent hood 10 adapted to be moved into raised position-to allow access to compartment 3. The hood lies between end walls 13 fitted with fastenings 12 to retain the hood in raised position. Compartment 3 is lit by a fluorescent lamp 14. A removable U-shaped shield 15 slides over evaporator 8 and the associated vertical wall 7 of compartment 3 to facilitate frost removal. As shown, hood 10 is hinged at 11 but, in a modification, each long edge is received in a groove in the cabinet top so that the hood can be pivoted upwards about either edge at will.
