Abstract

899,204. Tourniquets. WALKER, R. N. March 29, 1961 [Feb. 11, 1960], No. 4813/60. Class 81 (2). A tourniquet device comprises a supporting platform and a flexible loop which may be drawn tight by means of a pedal. The base 1 carries an adjustable pillar 4 to which the supporting platform 9 is hinged, being adjustably set for inclination by a strut 10. The flexible loop 14, which may be of rubber tubing, passes down through a hole 13 and is drawn tight by a cable 15, 20 which passes down around a pulley 22, on the pedal 23, to an adjustable bar 32. Movement of the bar 32 along the toothed rack 33 thus allows the loop 14 to be made larger or smaller to accommodate differently sized arms. The device is mounted on castors 2 but may be located firmly by a braking foot 36 on a rod 27, which may be lowered by a lever 41.
