899,195. Magnetic structures. TOKYO DENKI KAGUKU KOGYO KABUSHIKI KAISHA, and HOSHINO, Y. June 19, 1959 [June 20, 1958; June 25, 1958; June 26, 1958], No. 21155/59. Drawings to Specification. Class 38 (2). [Also in Group XXXVIII] A magnetic recording sheet is provided with a magnetic coating and a visible description such as writing or pictures on the same side of a carrier layer. In one embodiment the description is made on the carrier and covered with a film of γFe 2 O 3 , Ve 3 O 4 or ferromagnetic garnet which is thin enough to be transparent. In a further embodiment, the magnetic film is applied to the carrier and the description may be made with a magnetic ink of different constitution. This ink may contain carbonyl iron or a different kind of γFe 2 O 3 from the magnetic film. Alternatively, if Fe 3 O 4 is used for the main film, the ink may contain a mixture of this with BaSO 4 . In a further embodiment, the magnetic film is first made mirror-smooth with a heated roller, and the description is formed by applying a rough printing type or printing type impregnated with solvent to leave lustreless localised typing on the surface. The solvent dissolves the surface of the magnetic film binder which may be vinyl chloride. Specifications 833,266 and 850,291 are referred to.
