Abstract

In a nuclear reactor, finned fuel elements are arranged in channels in the moderator core through which the cooling medium flows. A cluster of elements is located in each channel disposed symmetrically toward the channel axis. Helical or longitudinal splitters may he provided to modify the coolant flow over the fins and to form a support for the cluster. A control fuel element within the cluster may be provided and displaced axially from the other elements. Specification 791,011 is referred to.
