Abstract

898,209. Separating solid materials. SATAKE, T. June 11, 1959 [July 9, 1958; Nov. 1, 1958], No. 20095/59. Class 117. Granular material is fed from a hopper 8 on to a coarse surfaced plate 1 inclined both longitudinally and laterally and having longitudinally extending grain collecting troughs 5, 6 for the different types of grain in the feed. The plate is supported above a base on a framework 2, 2<SP>1</SP> by pairs of pivoted support arms 3, 4 and lateral oscillations are imparted to the plate by a shaft 18 and eccentric 7. Each arm 4 is pivoted at one end to a trunnion block 9 which can be raised and lowered to vary the inclination. The blocks are threaded to spindles 10 and raised or lowered by turning the spindles manually via a shaft 12 and handle 13. The plate oscillates along an arcuate path, the tangents to which are at an angle greater than the lateral inclination of the plate. Fig. 6a shows a separating plate 1 with a perforated grid 26 on its upper surface; Fig. 6b shows a separating plate comprising depressions 27, and Fig. 6c a plate 1 with a grid of intermeshed wires 28. The plate may have ridges arranged on its upper surface, and diverging from the highest part of the plate towards the lowest.
