Abstract

898,124. Pipes &c. coverings. LOOF, N. O. T. March 28, 1960 [March 26, 1959], No. 10965/60. Class 99(2). [Also in Group XXXVI] A covering for a pipe 7, Fig. 4, comprises a strip 1 of resilient material, e.g. synthetic resin, wrapped around the pipe with its longer edges overlapping each other and extending longitudinally of the pipe, these edges having interengaging longitudinal ribs and grooves and the grooves providing lines of weakness along which surplus material may be readily severed after the strip is fitted around the pipe. The strip is used to protect insulation 10 maintained in position by a sheet 11 of paper around the pipe. As shown in Fig. 1, the strip consists of a central portion 2 located between edge portions 3, 4 having respectively external and internal ribs and grooves. The portion 2, which may be thickened, is provided with an external channel 8 of dovetail-shaped crosssection for the reception of an indentifying plate or of a holder for suspending the pipe.
