Abstract
897,609. Moulding processes. FOSECO INTERNATIONAL Ltd. Feb. 6, 1961 [Feb. 20, 1960], No. 4434/61. Class 83 (1). A preformed shape, e.g. for a foundry mould hot top &c. is made by the shell moulding process from a granular mix containing exothermically reacting ingredients, a refractory filler and a thermosetting synthetic resin. The formed shape 1 may be backed by a granular refractory 2 with a thermosetting resin binder. Montan wax or a silicone may be used on the pattern as a parting agent. The shell moulded surface may be given a facing of a refractory composition such as a mixture of zircon flour or aluminium stearate in carbon tetrachloride. Specifications 627,678, 774,490, 774,491, 785,984, 826,775 and 835,483 are referred to.
