897,415. Turbine and compressor rotors. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. Oct. 14, 1960 [Oct. 20, 1959], No. 35598/59. Class 110 (3). A bladed rotor for a turbine or compressor comprises a pair of end-plates 10, 10a, mounted on and drivingly connected to shafting 35, 36, a series of alternately arranged spacer rings 15 and blade-carrying discs 11 out of direct engagement with the shafting and individual securing means for securing the blade-carrying discs 11 to adjacent spacer rings or ring and end-plate. Each disc 11 has alternate pivotallymounted blades 25, 26. Bolts 18 pass through hollow pins 20 mounted in webs 13, 14 and the head of each bolt 18 is provided with a flat. The length of the pins 20 is such as to prevent nipping of the webs 13, 14 as the nuts 19 are tightened. Part of the blade roots extend between the webs 13, 14 to receive sleeves 28 so that the bolts 18 and the pins 20 constitute pivots for the blades 25. Blades 26 are similar, but root portions 29 receive hollow pins 30 which are substantially the same length as the thickness of the portion 12 of the discs 11 to allow rolling of the blades. The blades 25, 26 have root platforms 32 aligned with the outer circumference of the spacer rings 15 to provide a rotor having a cylindrical surface.
