A tubular container of flexible material has annular or helical corrugations over a portion of its wall so that when the base 5 of the container is pushed inwards the corrugations on the outer part of the wall engage with the corrugations on the inner part. The wall thickness of the part 4 of the container is less than that of the cylindrical part 3. The part 3 of the container may be frusto-conioal in the reverse direction. The containers are preferably of a thermoplastic material, e.g. polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride or a polyamide, and can be made by glueing, pressing and drawing, vacuum and/or pressure forming, injection- or blow-moulding.
