Abstract

6-amino-penicillanic acid is extracted from an aqueous solution, particularly an aqueousfermentation liquor, containing it, by extracting the solution at an acid pH with a solvent or mixture of solvents selected from alkanols and aliphatic ketones having from 4 to 10 carbon atoms, such as methyl ethyl ketone, methyl isobutyl ketone or a butanol. Specifications 870,395 and 870,396 are referred to.
