[Also in Group XVII] An impregnated glass fibre roof of a car body h a s abrasion resisting members 50 of nylon, polyvinyl chloride or aluminium secured thereto by non-metallic means. In one form, a member 50 is cemented in a recess moulded in the body. In another form (Fig. 4), a split tube 5 of aluminium is packed with glass fibre impregnated with liquid synthetic resin and subsequent curing unites the tube and fibre in the recess. In a further embodiment, an extruded I-section of aluminium is partly embedded in the body and is secured by a thermosetting resin. The members 50 may be nylon ropes secured at their ends by fixing plates.
