A cylindrical stopper moulded of polythene polyvinyl chloride or nylon has the surfaces of annular ribs 3, 4 provided with a rough or matt finish, by sand-blasting the corresponding mould surfaces, to increase the coefficient of friction between the stopper and the bottle-neck.
