Abstract

895,346. Ironing - machines. KLEINDIENST, H., and REICHART, H., [trading as KLEINDIENST & CO.]. Aug. 14, 1958 [Sept. 13, 1957], No. 26230/58. Class 138 (2). A method of pressing or smoothing textile articles comprises laying an article on a table, raising the table or lowering a heated plate to press the articles against the heated plate, and removing the article from the table by automatic means. Pivotal frame 1 on shaft 2 supports four tables 3 in positions 3a, 3b, 3c, and 3d, flat articles 4 being placed in position by an operator 6 and pressed under heated plates 9a and 9b and thereafter removed automatically at position 3d on to table 8. The automatic layoff device (Figs. 3, 4 and 5) comprises side members 23 and 24 supporting rollers 20 and 21 between which is stretched cloth 22 attached to roller 21 and held by teeth on rotatable roller 20 which is tightened by means of a milled nut 39 and held in position by a stop-pin 41. This layoff device is actuated by a cylinder 36 which pushes a connecting-rod 35 to the left and actuates a swing lever 34 drawing with it chain 29 which turns wheel 28 attached to shaft 27, thereby rotating the lay-off device, the workpiece 4 being deposited on a spring-loaded transverse bar 37, as shown in Fig. 4. The frame 1 is rotated by the action of a cylinder 44 and connecting-rod 45 on arm 43 which rotates shaft 2 through 90 degrees, the frame being brought to rest by the action of a stop 15 on arm 14 which is connected by a rod 46 to an air damper 47. When the tables in positions 3b and 3c are raised, stop 15 is cleared from arm 14, which is returned to its original position by a tension-spring 48.
