895,339. Moulding resin-fibre articles. DEUTSCHE TAFELGLAS A.G. July 25, 1958 [July 25, 1957], No. 24073/58. Class 87(2). [Also in Group VIII] A glass fibre sheet 1 impregnated with e.g. polyester or epoxy resin is placed between foils 2, 3 of e.g. cellulose film, cellulose acetate, polyvinyl chloride, polythene or polyester resin, the assembly clamped between members 4, 5 and moulded either by suction without a mould, Fig. 2, by suction with a mould Fig. 5, (not shown), or by fluid pressure and suction, Fig. 6. In a modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), the air beneath the assembly is replaced by a liquid which is removed by suction. The glass fibre may be in the form of a mat which is reinforced at e.g. its edges. The resin may be mixed with a catalyst or accelerator before impregnating the reinforcement. The foils may remain as part of or be removed from the moulded resin.
