Abstract

895,306. Dishwashing machines. NORD, S. G. Sept. 29, 1959 [Sept. 30, 1958], No. 32998/59. Class 138 (1). A dishwashing device comprises a rotatable liquid spraying means adapted to receive or accommodate a dishwashing composition or chemical which may be dissolved in the liquid at least one branch or arm of the spraying means being adapted to spray the solution obtained and one or more other branches or arms being adapted to spray the liquid itself so that an intermittent spraying action with and without the composition or chemical is obtained when the spraying means is rotated. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1, two tubular and counterbalanced arms 1, 2 of different lengths are rotatably mounted on the end of a water supply pipe 11. A single hole 3 at the outer end of the shorter arm 1 sprays a fan-like beam of a solution of a dishwashing chemical on to the dishes, the solution being formed by water passed around and dissolving a tablet 4 of a suitable chemical confined in a chamber 5 at the end of the arm by perforated walls 6, 7. Both the arm 1 and a rotatable sleeve 9 surrounding it contain holes through which the tablet 4 may be inserted when the sleeve 9 is turned so that the holes coincide. The arm 2, which is longer than arm 1, has a series of spraying holes producing a curtain of water having no dissolved chemicals which sweeps over the dishes being washed alternately with the spray from arm 1 as the device rotates about an axis coaxial with the supply pipe 11. Two or more different solutions may be used in the washing process by having two or more of the shorter arms 1, each containing a different chemical.
