895,189. Belt gearing. CONTINENTAL GUMMI-WERKE A.G. Sept. 27, 1960 [Oct. 14, 1959], No. 33122/60. Class 80 (1). [Also in Group XXXIV] A friction gear-wheel comprises a divided flanged rim the parts 8 of which are bolted together to clamp in position a solid tyre 1 of polyurethane, polyamide or the like having a Shore hardness in the range 94 to 98, the ratio of the radial sectional height of the tyre to its axial width being in the range 1: 3.5 to 7. The tyre may have reinforcing inserts of circumferentially extending steel mesh or wire bundles located radially outwardly of its inner periphery a distance equal to one-third to one half the radial sectional height of the tyre.
