Abstract

1500347 Wheel rim well fillers KRONPRINZ AG 10 Jan 1975 [31 Jan 1974] 1034/75 Heading B7C A drop-centre or well-based wheel rim is provided with a device preventing a tyre bead from moving into the well, the device comprising a split ring and an element 13 for securing the ends of the ring to one another after the ring has been positioned in the well. The device further includes a wheel-balancing weight. In one embodiment, the split ring 10 is of natural or synthetic rubber or of a plastics material, and the element constitutes, or is provided with a recess 16 accommodating the wheel balancing weight. The recess may open radially inwardly or outwardly (as shown). In a second embodiment (Fig. 1, not shown) the ring (3) is of inverted U-section and is reinforced by spring steel inserts (4). In a third embodiment, the device comprises four side-by-side rings (30-33) (Figs. 3, 4, not shown), two of which (31, 32) have their ends joined by respective elements 13 each positioned at 60 degrees from the point on the rim diametrically opposite the point of imbalance. The device additionally includes spring rings (34). Relative circumferential movement of the rings is prevented by an axially extending pin (35) or by means of adhesive securing the rings together.
