Abstract

The wheel rim for the solid tyre wheel has two half shells which are clipped together with interlocking ratchet edges to retain the tyre and to form a hollow section under the rim. For added support, a metal insert ring (6) is clamped under the rim in the hollow space. The wheel rim is made of moulded plastics, and with the metal insert ring it requires no further reinforcement. It can carry large loads without buckling laterally.
