Abstract

<PICT:0895040/III/1> In a semi-automatic apparatus for transferring a predetermined quantity of a liquid from a series of containers to a second series of containers, a series of pipettes 11, 12, 13, Fig. 2 have nozzles 3 extending into liquid containers 26, from which liquid is withdrawn by piston means into the reservoir body. The pipettes are mounted on a frame 2, and the upper part of the pipettes are spring-mounted in an arm 6, which includes an adjustable stop limiting the stroke of the piston and the amount of liquid withdrawn. The frame 2 is then moved upwards by a rod 19 connected to a gantry 14, and then sideways by a servomotor 15 to position the filled pipettes over receiving vessels 27, into which the pipette nozzles are lowered and the liquid contents are discharged. The movements are actuated by pneumatic, electric, or mechanical means. Specification 895,039 is referred to.
