Abstract
894,164. Saliva extractors. ORSING, J. H. July 19, 1960 [July 28, 1959; Nov. 2, 1959], No. 25090/60. Class 81 (2). A saliva extractor is made from a single length of deformable tubing, such as of polyvinyl chloride. In order to make it shape-retaining a length of wire extends throughout its length, either within the tube or set in the wall or in a bead formed thereon. In the simplest form the end of the tube is wound round to form a tongue guard 15 and is perforated at 16. It is then curved to pass over the teeth and round below the chin so as to be firmly held in position when in use. It may be bent as necessary to suit the requirements of individual patients. In another form, see Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown) the tube is formed into a double coil so as to grip the patient's cheek between adjacent loops.
