Abstract
893,806. Aerials. KLAPPER, A. Jan. 19, 1960 [Jan. 22, 1959], No. 1864/60. Class 40(7). An aerial for use on a ship has a part, which may be the down-lead, of its structure enclosed in a water-tight, rigid, and insulating sheath. A self-supporting mast aerial comprises a rigid insulating sheath 1 which contains a metal lining 10 which forms the aerial conductor. An extension 2 of the conductor projects from the sheath. At the lower end of the sheath there is a collar 4 which keeps a portion of the sheath dry. Air holes 5, 6 are provided in the sheath so that water droplets are not formed on the inner surface. A plate 11, at the lower end of the aerial conductor 10, carries beneath it a metal pot 13 which acts as an extension to the conductor.
