893,385. Controlling clutches. LINDE'S EISMASCHINEN AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT ZEIGNIEDERLASSING GUELDNER MOTORENWERKE, GES. FUR. June 5,1959 [June 7, 1958; Sept. 3, 1958], No. 19316/59. Class 80 (2). [Also in Group XXXI] Separate control-members for operating the clutch, accelerator, gear change and brake of an agricultural tractor may be operated from a single lever. The lever 1 is connected to a shaft 2 rotatably mounted in a control-box 3 and has rigid therewith a cam 10 and cranks carrying rollers 11 and 12. A roller 15 carried by a lever 14 is spring-urged into contact with the cam 10, the lever 14 being connected to the brake pedal 17 through a link 5. The rollers 11 and 12 cooperate with a cam 19 and a crank member 22, respectively, mounted upon a shaft 22, the cam 19 being connected through a crank and link 6 to the clutch pedal 21 and the crank 22 by a crank and flexible cable 7 to the gear shift lever 9. As shown in Fig. 2, the lever 1 is in the position wherein the tractor is at rest, the brakes being applied and the gear lever in the neutral position. The lever 1 is moved anticlockwise from this position to that of Fig. 3, rotating the shaft 2 and thus, by co-operation of cam 10 and roller 15, the brake is released, by co-operation of roller 11 and cam 19 the clutch is actuated, the shape of cam 19 providing that the clutch pedal moves through a disengaged position back to an engaged position, and the roller 12 co-operating with the crank 22 moves the gear shift lever, through the coupling 7, to a position whereby a forward gear is selected. Through another cam mechanism, not shown, the accelerator pedal is actuated. The lever 1 can be operated from a position near the tractor so that short journeys with frequent stops may be undertaken. In a modification, the shaft 2 may be rotated by a crank 56, Fig. 6, in response to movements of a piston 54 initiated by a piston 60 in an hydraulic circuit, the piston 60 being moved by a lever 51. An alternative hydraulic circuit is shown in Fig. 7, the movement of the piston 74 in one direction being caused by a spring 78. The hydraulic operation of the shaft 2 may be used to provide remote control points, the operating cylinder being located, e.g. on a mudguard. The box 3 may contain oil and a damper mechanism, 27, Fig. 4, may be attached to the shaft 20. A spring device to prevent strain on the gear shift lever, Fig. 5, may be included in the box 3, and comprises a piston 32 acted upon by a compressionspring 36. Should the gears not mesh properly, the spring 36 is compressed, the piston 32 resuming its proper position when the gears change position to become properly meshed. A damping effect is provided by the co-operation of the piston 32 with the cylinder 31 and small outlet holes 37.
