Abstract
892,868. Gas turbine plant. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. April 22, 1960 [April 24, 1959], No. 14232/60. Class 110 (3). [Also in Group XI] A fuel system for a gas turbine plant comprising a compressor supplying combustion air to a combustion chamber feeding a turbine driving the compressor has a fuel pump driven by the compressor turbine supplying fuel to spill-type burners in the combustion chamber through a regulating mechanism and pressure differential mechanisms for maintaining the pressure drop across the regulating mechanism constant and for controlling the return flow in the spill line. The invention is described with reference to a gas turbine plant comprising a compressor supplying combustion air to a combustion chamber feeding a turbine driving the compressor and an independent useful power turbine. A fuel pump 42 driven by the compressor turbine supplies fuel to the injection nozzles 60 through a pipe a containing a fuel regulator C. A pressure differential regulator 45 maintains the pressure drop across the fuel regulator C constant by by-passing fuel back to the suction of the pump. The piston valve 40 is moved in response to the compressor discharge pressure. The spill pipe b2 contains a flow regulator 47 which maintains the flow in the spill line constant. The pressure in front of an orifice 67 acts in chambers 68, 69 against the pressure at the downstream side of the orifice acting in chamber 70 and the load of the spring 71. A control piston 73 attached to a diaphragm 72 maintains the flow constant. A pipe c contains a valve 74 which is operated in response to overspeed of the power turbine, to by-pass fuel back to the pump suction.
