Fish shoals are recorded by a ship's echo sounder stylus and an additional stylus over the recording medium records the depth of a towed net, the additional stylus being displaced from the echo sounder stylus by a distance corresponding to the lateral distance of the net from the ship, Figs. 1 and 2 (neither shown). The net depth may be found by a manometric depth gauge or known echo sounding apparatus on the net. Specification 732,608 is referred to.
