Abstract
895,814. Echo-sounding apparatus. ATLASWERKE A.G. June 22, 1960 [Aug. 24, 1959], No. 21905/60. Class 40(7). A fishing net 1 is towed by lines 2, 3 at an adjustable distance below and behind a ship which carries a recorder 12, an echosounding transducer 8 and a manometer 9 are mounted on the top rope 7 of the net, and the transmission contact 25 is automatically adjusted in relation to recording stylus 16 travel in dependence on the measured depth of the net in order that transducer 8 is energized from generator 28 when the stylus passes through the point on depth scale 14 corresponding to the depth of the net. The separation between marks 34 and 36 indicates the net opening and marks 37 the sea bed and, to compensate for the distance of the net behind the ship, displacement of the recording chart or stylus in the direction 13 or opposite thereto may be effected. Cable 10 may have a single core, sea return being utilized as described in Specification 894,978. Specification 732,608 also is referred to.
