Abstract

891,377. Welding by fusion. ESAB Ltd. June 21, 1960 [June 23, 1959], No. 21749/60. Class 83 (4). In a double fillet-welding machine in which two welding heads 10, 11 for welding the fillets between a vertical plate 19 and a horizontal plate 18 are mounted on an inverted U-shaped frame 3 supported on wheels 5, the welding heads are suspended from pivots 9 on the frame 3 and having axes parallel to the direction of weld and are guided by members such as wheels 17. The welding heads are spring- loaded towards each other and together with flux containers 15 are carried by the pivots 9 which are axially adjustable in sleeves 8 fixed to the frame 3. The welding heads 10, 11 are in two parts 20, 22 pivoted together to provide angular adjustment of the electrode guide tubes 20. The wheels 5 or 17 and the wire feed mechanism are driven by one or more motors. Handles 23 are attached to the frame 3.
