Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:0890732/IV (b)/1> where R1 represents n-alkyl having from 3 to 6 carbon atoms, or phenyl, and R2 represents an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and acid addition salts thereof; and the preparation thereof by reacting a compound of the general formula <FORM:0890732/IV (b)/2> with a compound of the general formula <FORM:0890732/IV (b)/3> where X represents chlorine, bromine or iodine, preferably in the presence of an alkaline condensing agent and, if desired, converting the products into salts by reaction with acids in alcoholic solution. The products have pharmacodyanamic and fungicidal properties. N-(m-Alkylmercapto-phenyl)-anilines (II) are prepared by reacting m-alkylmercapto-anilines, obtained by stannous chloride-hydrochloric acid reduction of the corresponding nitro compound, with the potassium salt of o-chlorobenzoic acid and decarboxylating the resulting N-(m-alkylmercapto-phenyl)-anthranilic acid. N-(m-phenylmercapto-phenyl)-aniline is prepared by condensing m-iodo-aniline with the potassium salt of o-chloro-benzoic acid, decarboxylating the resulting N-(m-iodo-phenyl)-anthranilic acid to form N-(m-iodo-phenyl)-aniline and reacting this with sodium thiophenolate.
