Abstract

890,362. Air filters. ROBINSON & SON Ltd., THOMAS. Dec. 16, 1960 [Dec. 16, 1959], 42820/59. Class 8(2). In a dust-laden air filter comprising a plurality of outward flow filter sleeves C, Fig. 1, disposed in annular formation around a driven shaft j the latter carries a trip-lever m for agitating the sleeves in turn and a plate k for closing the lower end of the sleeve being agitated. The upper end of each sleeve is closed by a cap d attached to a downwardly biased pin e carried by a fixed bracket e<SP>1</SP> and the lower end of each sleeve is secured to a spigot f of a plate g which divides the filter casing into a lower dust-laden air inlet chamber h and an upper clean air chamber i. In operation engagement of a serrated edge m<SP>1</SP> of the trip lever m with one arm of a double-armed lever n, Fig. 2, associated with each sleeve and freely mounted on a pin o projecting radially inwardly from the casing wall results in the other arm of the lever n repeatedly raising and lowering the pin e to which it is pivotally connected and hence shaking of the sleeve cap d. The inner wall surface of the dust-laden air inlet chamber h is continuously wiped clean by a blade q carried by the driven-shaft j. The dust-laden air may be drawn into the apparatus by a fan s or may be forced in under pressure.
