Abstract
Sulphur monochloride is obtained by heating a solution of sulphur in hexachlorobutadiene with or without other solvents at a temperature between the boiling point of sulphur monochloride and the decomposition temperature of hexachlorobutadiene (e.g. 205 DEG -240 DEG C.), the sulphur monochloride being removed by distillation as it is formed.ALSO:Tetrachlorothiophene is prepared by heating a solution of sulphur in hexachlorobutadiene with or without other solvents at a temperature between the boiling point of sulphur monochloride and the decomposition temperature of hexachlorobutadiene, the sulphur monochloride being removed by distillation as it is formed. Temperatures between 205 DEG C. and 240 DEG C. are preferred.
