889,735. Sliding-clasp fasteners. HE1LMANN. W. E. Dec. 8, 1960, No. 42293/60. Class 44. A sliding-clasp fastener comprises two helical filaments 1 and 2 made from a synthetic organic plastic and having elastic members 5, 6 which practically fill the space within the coils of the filaments which are sewn to the filler members by parallel rows of stitches 9 arranged to cover the otherwise exposed upper parts of the filaments. The filaments are enlarged at 3, 4 so that they mesh together and may also be enlarged on their other sides as at 10 in order to stop the stitches slipping. The stringer tapes 7 and 8 'are sewn on as shown in Fig. I or may be sewn by their edges to the sides of the two coils remote from each other.
