Abstract
889,691. Lift control systems. WHITE CO., K. M. May 22, 1958, No. 16479/58. Drawings to Specification. Class 78 (3). A dispatching and control system for a plurality of lift cars operating in a bank between a plurality of floors comprises means for dispatching a selected car from a given floor, a first dispatching control means responsive to the demand on the system to cause the selected car to be dispatched when the demand for travel by that car is equal to or greater than, a predetermined amount, and a selectivelyoperable second dispatching control means for dispatching the selected car at the expiration of a predetermined time if the demand for travel by that car is less than the predetermined amount. The system also includes means, responsive to the absence of cars from a particular floor, which simulate a demand for travel at that floor sufficient to cause a car to be dispatched to it. The number of cars operating in the bank at a given time is dependent on the traffic demand at that time. Means are also provided to cause a car travelling free towards the dispatching floor to reverse before reaching that floor. The Specification describes in detail a four-car system serving ten floors and a basement and capable of operating either automatically or under attendant control.
