Abstract
889,516. Retreading tyres. LAUDISA, A. May 30, 1960 [Aug. 19, 1959], No. 19046/60. Class 87(2). A self-centring press for retreading or remoulding motor tyres in the hot state comprises an upper movable platen 1 having an air chamber 4 on its lower face acting on a tapered steam chamber 6 surrounding a segmental die ring 11 and die 10, and a lower fixed platen 7 having an air chamber 9 on its upper face supporting a steam chamber and die assembly, the two die and steam chamber assemblies being separated by an air chamber 13. The use of tapered components in the press assembly results in a self-centring action when the press closes, the finished tyres being removed by parting the segments of the dies.
