Abstract

888,778. Massage appliances. LECLABART, J. March 25, 1960, No. 10643/60. Class 81 (2). An appliance for massaging the scalp comprises a casing 1 supporting two parallel pivot pins 2, 3, each of which carries a pivotal arm 4, 5 having a massage member 8 at one end and directed so that the maximum distance between the massage members is less than that between the pivot pins, an elastic member 11 urging the massage members apart and a link device 16, 17 interconnecting the arms so that they oscillate with the same amplitude in opposite directions. When the appliance is pressed against the skin, the arms 4, 5 pivot towards one another against an interconnecting spring strip 11 so that the massage members which may be made of rubber pinch the skin between them. To ensure that the arms oscillate with equal amplitude in opposite directions when pressure is alternately applied and released, one end of each of two links 16, 17 is connected to each arm respectively, the other end of each link being pivotal on a common pin 18.
