Abstract

442,105. Massage apparatus. TARRANT, R. T., Napton, near Rugby. Jan. 7, 1935, No. 474. [Class 81 (ii)] A massaging device, particularly intended for treating the scalp, comprises two sets of teeth or fingers provided with massaging elements and carried by a common support by which the device may be held in the hand and moved over the scalp, the two sets of teeth being moved to and from one another by pressure of the hand during the movement over the scalp. The teeth 2, Fig. 1, are formed integral with or secured to a pair of plates 1 which are connected to one another by a bow spring 4. Massaging elements 3, of rubber or other suitable material, are attached to the teeth 2, the free ends of the elements being cupped, recessed, or formed with protuberances. In a modification, the plates 1 are hinged together, a compression spring being interposed between them. In another modification, shown in Fig. 6, the plates 1 are hinged together and are provided with handles 8, a compression spring 6 being interposed between the handles.
