888,580. Electromedical apparatus. NEMEC, H. Sept. 4, 1958, No. 28470/58. Class 81 (2). Electromedical apparatus for producing localized irrating current effects in the body comprises two sources of current-producing different currents, means coupling the sources to the body so that they interfere in the body and adjustable intensity and phase-determining elements interconnecting the sources. Two circuits, each including a current source 6, 7, an amplifier 12, 13, and output terminals 1, 2, 3, 4 are connected to electrodes 15, 16 respectively, and a common electrode 18 which contact the body. A rheostat 8, a variable capacitor 9 and changeover switches 10, 11 interconnect the two circuits so that desired differences in phase and intensity between the currents may be selected to provide an irritating effect in or on the surface of the body in a desired location. The sources 6, 7 produce sinusoidal attenuating currents which may differ slightly in frequency, e.g. 4000 cycles/sec. and 4000Π(0 to 200) cycles/sec. respectively. The common electrode 18 may be replaced by two electrodes coupled to the terminals 2, 3 respectively. Specifications 651,951 and 657,138 are referred to.
