Abstract

Dyestuffs of the formula:- <FORM:0888547/IV (a)/1> wherein R1 is hydrogen, an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl radical or a functional derivative of a carboxylic group (e.g. a carboxylic acid ester group), R2 is hydrogen, an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, aralkyl or aryl radical or a functional derivative of a carboxylic group and R3 and R4 are hydrogen, alkyl, aralkyl or unsubstituted or substituted aryl radicals or carboxylic groups or functional derivatives thereof, are added to cellulose ester, e.g. cellulose acetate, or polyamide, polyurethane or aromatic polyester (including polyethylene terephthalate and polycarbonates of 4,41-dihydroxy-diphenylpropane) spinning masses, whereby the fibres or films produced therefrom are dyed. Specification 886,091 is referred to.ALSO:Fibrous materials, films or other shaped articles of aromatic polyesters (including polycarbonates of 41,41-dihydroxy-diphenyl-propane), polyamides, polyurethanes or cellulose esters are dyed or printed with an aqueous bath or paste containing a dyestuff free from sulphonic acid groups of the formula <FORM:0888547/IV (c)/1> wherein R1 is hydrogen, an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl radical or a functional derivative of a carboxylic group, R2 is hydrogen, an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, aralkyl or aryl radical or a functional derivative of a carboxylic group and R3 and R4 are hydrogen or alkyl, aralkyl or unsubstituted or substituted aryl radicals or carboxylic groups or functional derivatives thereof. Dyeing may be effected at 60 DEG C.-130 DEG C., preferably in the presence of an acid. Prints are subsequently heated or steamed at 180 DEG C.-210 DEG C. Leveling and dispersing agents and carriers, several of which are specified, may be added to the dyebath. Examples of dyeing and printing are given. The dyestuffs are made by the action of appropriately substituted 4-formyl-pyrazolones-5 or N,N-disubstituted 4-amino-methylene-pyrazolones-5 on appropriately substituted pyrazolones with unsubstituted 4-positions. Numerous dyestuffs are specified in which R2=phenyl, p-tolyl, mono- and di-chloro-phenyl, nitrophenyl, methoxyphenyl and cyanoethyl, R1=cyanoethyl, R4=methyl, carbethoxy or carboxy and R3=methyl or methoxy-phenyl groups.
