[Also in Group XXIII] A process for rounding the inner ends of injection bores of injection nozzles with which liquids are atomized, in particular for improving the discharge co-efficient of the bores in the nozzle element of compression-ignition engines, is characterized in that small steel balls, the number of which is different from that of the bores to be machined, are introduced into the space from which the bores emerge and are then thrown on to the inlet edges of the bores by means of a current of pressure medium introduced into said space. The balls may be of different diameters. Fig. 3 shows the effect of using six such balls, the radius r of the largest ball 7a being smaller than the radius R of the nozzle body 1 from which the nozzle bore 8 emerges, and the radius of the smallest ball being such that the ball cannot penetrate into the bore and block it. A desirable inlet curvature is thus obtained.
