Abstract

887,114. Windscreen and window cleaners. WYNN DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. Jan. 8, 1960 [Jan. 14, 1959; Feb. 26, 1959], Nos. 1415/59 and 6739/59]. Class 138 (1). A window or windscreen wiper system particularly for use,on ships comprises a wiper blade 16 which is moved to and fro with a rectilinear motion across the window or windscreen by a moving endless belt 3 connected by an arcuate pad or clip 20, of radius approximating to the radii of the belt pulleys 4, 5, and a link 17 to a carriage 7 having a downwardly depending plate member 13 carrying the wiper blade 16. The carriage 7 is provided with rollers, 8, 10 running between guides 9, 11, and 12 and a casing I surrounding the belt 3. The casing 1 may be sealed against entry of water by rubber or like sealing strips (not shown) provided at the sides of the slot 14 through which the plate 13 projects. In another embodiment the belt 3 is a "V" belt carried by grooved pulleys one of which is carried by a pivoted lever connected with a tension spring for applying tension to the belt, and an adjusting screw is provided for varying the pressure applied: by the wiper blade. In a further construction the carriage is provided with two pairs of rollers running on opposite faces of a horizontal guide.
