Abstract
887,032. Glass manufacture. COLUMBIASOUTHERN CHEMICAL CORPORATION. May 4, 1960 [May 11, 1959], No. 15705/60. Class 56. A glass batch contains sand and alkali metal salts, part at least of the alkali metal salt content being added in aqueous solution, and the batch is maintained above 90‹F. until fed to the furnace. If the batch hardens it can be rendered free flowing again by raising the temperature further. The batch may consist of sand, limestone and soda-ash. The alkali metal salt solution may contain a wetting agent.
