Abstract

886,939. Rotary filters. DAVY, PAXMAN & CO. Ltd. Sept 22, 1960 [Sept. 22, 1959], No. 32281/59. Class 46. Liquid to be filtered is supplied under pressure through a stationary tube 11 to a compartment 10 formed by baffles 12 and a perforate cylinder 7 within a pressure vessel 1 rotated on rollers 2 and within a bearing 3, 4 by a sprocket wheel 6 and chain (not shown). The liquid passes through a precoat of filter medium on the inside of cylinder 7 and filtrate is collected by a number of pipes 13 (one for each of the compartments 9) ending in a bearing surface 16 sliding over a fixed bearing surface 15 in a filtrate discharge head 14. Dislodged filter cake is guided by a shoot 19 into a stationary tube 20 within which rotates a screw conveyer 21 communicating with a discharge opening 22. 18 is a drainage discharge pipe.
