886,743. Rollers on vehicles for facilitating loading. S.E.D. (CIRENCESTER) Ltd. Nov. 27, 1959 [Dec. 8, 1958], No. 39512/58. Class 78 (4). [Also in Group XXXII] Apparatus for facilitating the transfer of a boat or other object to and from the roof of a vehicle comprises transverse and upwardly extending rollers 1, 5, Fig. 1, detachably mounted by clamps 3 on a roof rack 7, 9. As shown in Fig. 2, each roller 1, of synthetic plastic or other non-abrasive material, is rotatably mounted on a cylindrical metal tube 2 carried in the upper jaws of the clamps 3, which limit axial movement of the roller. Welded to one end of the tube 2 is a vertical cylindrical tube 4 on which is rotatably mounted the roller 5, the upward axial movement of which is limited by a split-pin 6. The lower jaws of the outer clamps 3 each engage the roof rack through the intermediary of a split cylinder 8. The outer clamps may be taller than the inner clamps so as to incline the rollers 1.
