Abstract

886,691. Seats. IRWIN & PARTNERS Ltd., E. G. Aug. 11, 1959 [Dec. 12, 1958], No. 40156/58. Class 52(2) A cross spar in an aircraft seat is rigidly supported against torsional deflection by only one of its leg structures, the other leg structure or structures being arranged to allow torsional play of the spar. The torsion resisting leg structure 3a is rigidly connected to the spar 2 and either made in one piece, Fig. 1, or braced, Fig. 5. The torsion permitting leg structure 4a may be rigidly connected to the spar 2, Fig. 5, rigidly connected to a sleeve in which the spar is rotatably mounted (Fig. 4, not shown), pivotally connected to the spar (Fig. 3, not shown) or pin jointed at 6 to the spar, Fig. 1.
