Abstract
886,595. Delivering material to trains of moving wagons. SIMON-CARVES Ltd. July 21, 1960 [Sept. 26, 1959], No. 32805/59. Class 78 (4). A yielding device 18 prevents lumps of coal or other material being jammed between a pivoting conveyer 6 and a shoot device 9, 10 which diverts the stream of material delivered by the conveyer 6 from one wagon 4 of a moving train to the next. The conveyer 6 can be lowered about its shaft 2 to deliver material directly to the bottom of a wagon 4. As the wagon 4 is filled the conveyer 6 is raised until, as the wagon 4 leaves the end of the conveyer (travelling to the left in the Figure) the conveyer 6 is raised to deliver down the shoot 9. As a further wagon 4 comes into position to be loaded the conveyer 6 is slightly lowered so that its stream of material is delivered against a deflector plate 10, and is subsequently lowered to the bottom of the fresh wagon. The deflector 18 comprises a flap pivoted at 19 and counterbalanced by springs or weights.
