Abstract

886,441. Single - tens reflex cameras. GAUTHIER G.m.b.H., ALFRED. Oct. 14, 1959 [Jan. 30, 1959], No. 34748/59. Class 98(1). In a single lens reflex camera having a shutter wherein movement of a camera release member directly causes closing of the shutter blades which have been opened for viewing through a view-finder, swinging of a finder mirror out of the viewing position, and release of the shutter for taking a photograph, the actuating devices for the opening and closing of the shutter blades other than for exposure purposes, the swivelling of the viewfinder mirror, and, if desired, for movement of a preselective lens diaphragm and an image aperture cover flap in addition to the viewfinder mirror, are connected by spring force to the camera release member and a safety device is provided which can engage the actuating device and retain them against spring power in their position of readiness to photograph into which position they have been brought by the releasing movement of the camera release member, until the end of the exposure. As shown (Fig. 1) a camera release member 4 is coupled by means of a link 5 and a lever 6 pivoted at 12 respectively to a shutter release lever 7 for a shutter 2, an actuating lever 33 for closing the shutter blades (not shown) prior to exposure and a lever 8 pivoted at 12 and coupled to a link 9 for movement of the mirror 10 out of the path of the exposure beam, a lost motion coupling 9a, 14 being provided to ensure that the mirror does not move until the shutter blades have been closed. The sequence of events as the levers 7, 33 and 8 are displaced by depression of the member 4 will be described with respect to Fig. 3. On pivoting of lever 33 in the anticlockwise direction about its spindle 20, a pin 39 thereon engaging a cam surface 26a of a lever 26 moves this lever against its spring loading and by means of a first shutter blade ring 24 closes the blades ready for exposure. When this closing movement is completed, a finger 34a of the lever 33 engages behind a detent 40a of a spring urged lever 40 and thereby acts as a safety device for holding the levers 26 and 8 in their positions of readiness to photograph. On pivoting of lever 7 in the anticlockwise direction about the spindle 20, an arm 22 thereof engaging a pin 23 on a .lever 18 pivots this lever against the loading of its spring 19 andafter the finger 34a has engaged with detent 40a-releases the shutter driving disc 16 by removal of a lug 18a from the path of a projection 16a of the disc. The disc 16 then runs down under loading of its spring 17 and by way of a second shutter blade ring (not shown) opens and closes the shutter blades for exposure. At the end of its movement, the projection 16a engages with an arm 40b of the lever 40 and releases the detent device 40a, 34a. The members 33, 7, 26, 8 and 10 then return to their positions for viewing under their respective spring loadings. "B" exposures: Normally the lever 30 is held inoperative by means not shown but if these means are removed, then-under loading of a spring 31-said lever follows the movement of a lug 22a on arm 22 and projection 16a of disc 16 is held in the blade open position by a lug 30a on the lever 30 until such time as the lever 7 is released by release of member 4. A cover flap may also be coupled to the lever 8 and a diaphragm may be coupled by spring means to either lever 8 or 26 for adjustment to a preset value or to a value determined by a light meter.
