Abstract
885,708. Integrating-apparatus. COMPAGNIE DES COMPTEURS. May 4, 1960 [June 2, 1959], No. 15774/60. Class 106 (4). [Also in Group XX] Apparatus for measuring the quantity of heat supplied by a hot-water supply system at variable temperature comprises a water meter 1 which drives a counter 32 for a fraction of each revolution of the meter 1, the fraction depending on the temperature of the water. A bimetallic strip 3 has a rod 5 at one end which angularly moves a fork member 6 and, through shaft 6<SP>1</SP>, toothed wheels 7, 8 and shaft 10, a pointer 10<SP>1</SP> associated with a dial 10<SP>11</SP>. A sector 9, on shaft 10, has a toothed portion 9<SP>1</SP> meshing with wheel 12 associated with a cam arm 15, so that the angular position of arm 15 depends on the temperature of the water flowing through meter 1 as detected by the strip 3. A spiral spring 13 anchored at 14 and attached to wheel 12 and arm 15 takes up play, and tends to return the bi-metallic strip 3 to its cold position. Coaxial with wheel 12 and arm 15 is a shaft 16 driven in a clockwise direction by meter- 1 through gears 17, 18, the shaft 16 driving a plate 19 and also, through gears 37, 38, a counter 39. As the plate 19 rotates, a rod 33 on a pivoted lever 27 carried by the plate 19, abuts a cam 34 on sector 9 to displace the lever 27 about its pivot 25 and, through a hairpin spring 28, cause corresponding displacement of a second lever 26 on plate 19. An arm 26<SP>1</SP> on lever 26 is thus caused to engage a toothed wheel 29 connected by gears 30, 31 to the counter 32 so that the latter is driven. When rod 33 abuts arm 15 the lever 27 is pivoted back again, lever 26 follows and consequently arm 26<SP>1</SP> is disconnected from the wheel 29. The angular displacement of levers 26, 27 is limited by conically ended fingers 20, 21, adjustable in height by nuts 22, 23. If the water temperature is below a predetermined value a conical stud 11 on sector 9 bears on the heel 34<SP>1</SP> of cam 34 to rock the latter below the horizontal plane of movement of rod 33 so that counter 32 is not driven.
