Abstract

885,419. Shoots feeding articles to roller-way conveyers. KAYSER, ELLISON & CO. Ltd. June 22, 1960 [June 26, 1959], No. 21939/59. Class 78 (1). Metal rods 19, 19A, 19B are fed to a centreless grinding machine 1 by pairs of synchronouslydriven skewed rollers 17 which receive the rods from a shoot 25 provided with a reciprocating lifting dog 30 which is operated automatically by an electric thrustor 39 to discharge a rod on to the rollers each time the preceding rod ceases to obstruct the beam of light falling on a photo-electric cell 37. To accommodate rods of different sizes the shoot is angularly adjustable about an axis 46 and is movable horizontally by a rack-and-pinion mechanism 53, 54, the stroke of dog 30 is variable by connecting link 27 to any one of a series of holes 60, and the roller supporting table 5 is vertically adjustable by screws 6. A manually-controlled shutter 64 is provided to cut off the light beam and stop operation of the feed mechanism. Specification 885,420 is referred to.
