Abstract
885,259. Bomb shelters. ROSENFELD, M. M. Jan. 27, 1958, No. 2682/58. Class 20(1) A subterranean bombshelter comprises a shell formed from four pre-cast concrete elements 18, 20, 22, 24 joined together by cement, a door 38 in a vertical side of the shell, a partitioned area 40 adjacent the door having a sliding door 42 at right angles to the door 38, an escape hatch 48 and cover 44 surrounded by another partitioned area 58 with door 60, and a mechanical jack 50 for raising the cover. The shelter is built adjacent but lower than the basement of a house and the door 38 is spaced from the floor of the shelter (see Fig. 3, not shown) and a flood barrier is provided in the basement. A generator and air purifier are used and the walls of the shell may be coated with lead.
