Abstract
885,097. Anastomosis. LIEBIG, W. J. April 18, 1958 [April 18, 1957], No. 12457/58. Class 81 (2). [Also in Group IX] Vascular implants are made of acrylic, nylon, or polyester yarns woven as a two-ply fabric thereby providing woven in seams at the edges. The implants may be straight, curved or of Y-form and the yarn may have a semidull lustre. The yarn may be treated with size or silicon. The implant is woven with a main tubular portion T, and seams S, S<SP>1</SP>, S<SP>c</SP> separated by subsiduary tubular portions t, t<SP>1</SP>. The implant is cut from the woven fabric at or adjacent one of the seams, preferably the seam S<SP>c</SP>, and if cut with a heated tool, is provided with a sealed edge. The implants are sterilized and packed singly or in groups and are compatible with human tissue. This method of manufacture provides sufficient permeability to the fibro blasts and collagens which normally develop along the vascular implantation. The walls of the implant are about 0.005 to 0.008 in. in thickness.
