Abstract

885,047. Preventing corrosion. ENGELHARD INDUSTRIES Inc. July 10, 1959 [Aug. 13, 1958], No. 23836/59. Class 123(1). An impressed current anode assembly for cathodically protecting the hulls of small ships such as cabin cruisers consists of a rivetshaped body having a. slightly curved head 2 forming the anode surface and a stem 6 provided with a connector pin 8. The stem 6 is part-threaded at 12 to engage a nut 14 which is tightened to compress a pair of resilient sealing and insulating washers 16, 18, the washers having shoulders 20, 22 which hold the stem 6 centrally within a bore provided in the hull 10. A protective cup 26 shields the pin 8 which is engaged by a female connector 24 to connect the anode to the electric current source. The anode body portion is preferably made of titanium coated with platinum.
